Outlook 2007 (Crashes) with ACT 10.01 Help Please!!

(ACT Prem 10.01 - Windows Vista - Outlook 2007)

When I press a email hyperlink from a contact within ACT I get the following:

1. Amazingly - 25% of the time, this feature works perfectly

2. 75% of the time - ACT will take a long time - then finally produce this message " please ensure that both ACT! and Outlook have 'run as administrator privileges' (which I have checked - and do on ACT, and cant seem to find the availablity of this on Outlook [though I log onto the PC as admin and there are no other accounts on the PC)

** This happens when Outlook and ACT are open..... If Oulook is closed -- ACT opens a new (Outlook) email message with no problem...] ---- Most of the time I have Outlook and ACT open at the same time - so when the error message pops up - I close Outlook...... then when I try to re-open Outlook - 50% of the time it wont open and I have to re-boot

All help appreciated

UAC - User Account Control ... anyhow -- Mike, thanks for that --

I just turned that off, and did a reboot - and so far (on 2 tests) Outlook and ACT work perfectly (again) ....

The problem is/was wierd becuase it worked sometimes for me -

I will test this intensivley throughout the next few days --- So far its working

Thanks again

Re: Outlook 2007 (Crashes) with ACT 10.01 Help Please!!

UAC is IMHO the single worst "feature" in Vista... why, even with SP1, they didn't provide a method to exclude specific applications like the Firewall is a major oversight.

I agree this is a odd feature (UAC) and I would expect that many would have problems similar to mine - Could ACT not incorporate a string/code that offers to change the UAC selection or even a message that HINTs that the UAC may be the problem (Of Admin rights on the issuse within this thread)

Microsoft doesn't want applications to do that... but it is in the Knowledge base
