Organizing Numbers in Fields

ACT is currently organizing the fields when numbers are involved for ascending or descending order (e.g. Suite 150 is showing after Suite 1000) when creating a lookup.  This also happens under the groups tabs where we have Groups labeled off of addresses.  Is it possible to have the lookup based on actual increasing numberical order versus going one number at a time to determine the order?

Re: Organizing Numbers in Fields

Not in alphanumeric fields. Numbers in an alphanumeric field are sorted from left to right thus every number that started with 1 would sort before a number starting with 2. For an alphanumeric field to sort in numeric order, all the numbers must have the same number of digits. For example a ZIP or post code field will sort in numeric order because each ZIP code starts with 5-digits.

Re: Organizing Numbers in Fields

Thank you! So if it were strictly a numeric field, then it would automatically sort itself in number order, correct? Is it possible that when it prints in a report style view it can show "suite" next to the number?

Re: Organizing Numbers in Fields

That is correct about numeric fields. As to the report, it would depend on how you designed the report.
