Object Reference When Emailing With a Template After v19 Update.

Hello Again!

This issues is effecting:

Act! Premium Version 19.0.147.0, Update 3

Remote Databases

Windows 7 and 10

All Verisons of Outlook 2010+ all 32bit

After we updated our Remote Clients to Version 19 All of our users are now getting the Object Reference error.

Capture.JPG

The end user can easily send emails out of Act using the Email button but any of the .TPL files end up with the same error.

This only started occurring directly after the update to version 19, some of our users were also given new RDB files to rule out that being the cause.

I have looked through KB 24350 but it didn't seem to have what I was looking for.

Thanks!

Re: Object Reference When Emailing With a Template After v19 Update.

Hi ThyTech,

This is actually a known issue with v19.0 update 3 (Defect D-05421). This will be fixed in the upcoming update 4.

The issue only affects .TPL files which are used by the Act! Word Processor.

.ADT files can still be used if Act! is set to use Microsoft Word as the Word processor. To change this preference click on Tools > Preferences > Communication tab.

If you only use the standard templates, then these already exist as .ADT files and can be used straight away.
If you have a bunch of customised templates all in .TPL format, then these would have to be recreated in .ADT format after changing the preference described above. Alternatively you can wait for Update 4 to be released to restore this functionality.

To help find the problem -

Can you try creating a new template on one of the remotes? Can it be created? Does it work?

Re: Object Reference When Emailing With a Template After v19 Update.

Try going to the ACT Template folder and right click. Select properties - Security - Edit - add EVERYONE and give them FULL CONTROL

Even with Full Control I get the same error when attempting to create a new one, email via one or edit a current one.
