No way to narrow keyword search results [ Edited ]

It appears that there is no way to further refine a search result when the list of contacts results from a Keyword search.

Or is there?

No a keyword search can't be narrowed. Same as with some other special lookups like creating a lookup from a group. They aren't done with the query based search engine.
