No E-Mail-History in ACT contacts

We are using ACT! Premium v17 with Hotfix 4 and Office 2010 Home and Business.

When opening a contact in ACT and clicking on his mail address, Outlook opens a new mail. After sending the mail a log should appear in that contacts history but it doesn't.

I have consulted the knowledge base and tried several solutions from there but unfortunately to no avail.

Any tips on what we're doing wrong?

It would help if you indicated what KB articles and what steps you've tried?
Just so people aren't posting you those same steps

http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19948/~/no-history-created-or-recorded-when-sending-e-mail...

  • Unsupported version of Microsoft Outlook
  • Administrative preferences set to not allow files and emails to attach (Sage ACT! 2011 and higher)
  • The Act.Outlook.Service.exe is not running
  • The ACT! Address Book has not been properly added to Outlook
  • Insufficient Windows folder permissions for the folders of a shared database
  • Microsoft Word® is set as your e-mail editor (Outlook 2003)
  • The History Queue folder is backed up
  • File path to History Queue folder is incorrect in registry
  • ACT! Outlook add-in disabled
  • ACT! address book is setup with the wrong database.

Did the bold ones yesterday. Will propably redo the entire list today.

Hi there,

Just to double check, do you have history recording enabled in the Email System Setup Wizard?

Quick question, how would one open said E-Mail setup wizard? In Outlook? In ACT?

Hm, seems to be enabled. I mean there is an Add-In in Outlook and everything.

Re: No E-Mail-History in ACT contacts

Check the "Outlook side": Go into account settings-> Adressbooks and look for the ACT! Adressbook. It should be present in the list. If not, add it manually here.
If you can't add it because it's not offered from the list of " additional adressbooks", then you have a problem with the MAPISVC.inf file. It is either missing or doesn't contain the approriate entries for ACT!. A quick-and-dirty way of fixing this would be to copy the file over from a working system. Admin rights necessary...

Re: No E-Mail-History in ACT contacts

Do check out the advice above. I found that certain combinations of Window, ACT, and Office did not add the ACT address book when enabling the ACT - Outlook integration and therefore had to be added in manually in Outlook as advised above.

Will try all of the advice above as soon as the user is around. This unfortunately could take weeks. d.
