We are using ACT! Premium v17 with Hotfix 4 and Office 2010 Home and Business.
When opening a contact in ACT and clicking on his mail address, Outlook opens a new mail. After sending the mail a log should appear in that contacts history but it doesn't.
I have consulted the knowledge base and tried several solutions from there but unfortunately to no avail.
Any tips on what we're doing wrong?

Did the bold ones yesterday. Will propably redo the entire list today.

Do check out the advice above. I found that certain combinations of Window, ACT, and Office did not add the ACT address book when enabling the ACT - Outlook integration and therefore had to be added in manually in Outlook as advised above.
