I am trying to set up a new user. I add the user to the main database and everything works fine there. I can log in with the new user's credentials.
Then I sync a remote database with the main database. From the remote, I can go to Tools...Manage Users... and the new user shows up in the user list. His log on status is "active".
If I try to log onto the remote database with the new user name I get the error message:
Invalid user name or password
Could not authenticate user. Verify the user name and password, and try again.
Both machines are running XP SP2 with all updates current.
ACT version 9.0.0.075 on both ends.
I have recreated and restored the remote database.
This is exactly what we hope to see in this new community! So glad to see your question promptly answered, abqpete, and thanks so much for wading right in and helping new posters m4y.
Thanks for the heads up on Hotfix 3. I wasn't even aware of it but I'll do a search here. I'm new to ACT! and still struggling with it somewhat. It'd probably help if I'd read the manual. I think it'll be a great tool once we get familiar with it and tweak to fit our business.
I am planning to do the 9.01 update when I get some other fires put out.
I wish Sage would provide a support model like they do with MAS90. We pay an annual fee (percentage of purchase price) that entitles us to updates, including version updates. It's hard to swallow paying close to full retail price every time they release a new version.
She should update to 9.0.1, yes! But not HF3. An update is like a service pack and always should be applied. Hotfix fixes somes specific bugs! If she does not encounter these bug, it is not necessary to apply it!
Especially the Hotfix 3!! People who updated from 9.0 to 9.0.1 then applied the HF3 had too much problems with outlook integration or scheduler...
