Network Sync won't start

Hello All,


Using Act Premium 2012 and Vista Home Premium, I am trying to start the Sync Service but am being told I don't have permission to do so, you must be a Windows Administrator permission etc.... I AM the Windows Administrator however.  I can't seem to find anything to right-click and "Run as Administrator" to start it.


Any recommendations?

Hello BWS,
This is due to User Account Control (UAC) in Windows blocking access to needed registry keys. Disabling UAC should resolve the issue. Instructions are in this Knowledgebase article:

Another option would be to run the NW sync service as administrator:
- Browse to C:\Program Files\ACT\ACT for Windows\ACT Network Sync
- Locate the file "Act.Framework.Synchronization.Service.exe"
- Right-click on it, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box at the bottom to run as administrator
- Do the same for the file "Act.Framework.Synchronization.Service.UI.exe"

Your best bet is disabling UAC, since this function was problematic for a number of applications in Vista.
