Re: Needs to be 1, 2 or 3 - Parameter name: adPosition

Scott,

My solution was to apply the 16.3 update which was missing from the server.

Probem fixed.

  • I am also getting this error. But for outlook integration.

  • In addition the event log is flooded with this error.

  • There is a pattern... it happens exactly in 5 min intervals.

  •  It happens only on 1 computer and only 1 profile

  •  Tried reinstalling outlook, and act no success.

  • Rebuilt profile, no success.

Re: Needs to be 1, 2 or 3 - Parameter name: adPosition

Hello

Has anyone solved this? The error appears as soon as the ACT database is selected.

Needs to be 1,2 or 3
Parameter name: abPosition

It happened before and after upgrading Act v17 SP1 to SP2. Windows 8.1 x64, Office 2013.

Re: Needs to be 1, 2 or 3 - Parameter name: adPosition

Hello Scott

I tried every step in order in your Answer ID 28926 link. I'm still having the same problem with the original database, a copy, and a 3rd database with imported data from the first. Is there anything else I can do to solve the problem?

Thanks, Jason

jmerritthf,

Thank you for the response. Do you get this error with a new database? Have you tried the Demo Database?

Hope this helps,

Re: Needs to be 1, 2 or 3 - Parameter name: adPosition

Hello All

I purchased a support contract. A tech found a solution for the adPosition error via the registry, however it caused another problem. Ultimately I was able to fix the problem by following the steps below.

1. Uninstall both office and ACT, reboot

- dont uninstall SQL express or any SQL installation so your database is loaded when you install ACT again

2. Run CCleaner junk clean and registry scan + fix, reboot

3. Install office first, reboot if prompted (I didnt have to reboot after reinstalling office 365/2013)

4. Install ACT v17, then SP2

5. Test Outlook, then ACT

Other items

1. One of the techs advised its best practice to open ACT before Outlook

2. After folloing above I also had to fix a problem where templates did not open in word via the KB article below
