We just had a hardware failure that idled about 20 of our users (no data loss--just disk controller failure). Now management wants some kind of redundant system put in place to make sure this doesn't happen again. This server was also our backup server so I couldn't pull the data off this box until it was resurrected (BTW, major kudos to HP--they had 4 hours to respond; with 2.5 hours they had a new motherboard on-site with a tech).
So, anyone have any experience/knowledge of mirroring Act 2009 with SQL 2005? I know that Marathon's EverRun will essentially cluser two servers (one primary and the other as secondary) as one IP address and roll-over if the primary fails. Also Vertias has a volume tool that replicates SQL.
Will these work? I understand that there is some kind of hardware signature associated with the Act install that my not allow replication--would that require purchasing additional licenses?
Any thoughts/suggestions/articles would be greatly appreciated.
