Hi Gurus,
I have inherited the ACT2010 env & have no clues how it works; however, I'm tasked to migrate the database to another server due to diskspace issue on the current system. I have installed ACT2010 on a VM & cloned the ACT database onto a new server; however, I no clue how ACT application works and connects to a new database. Could someone please give me some info on how the app connect to a databases which is on another server?
Thanks in Advance,

Hello Daigia,
Welcome to the ACT! Community!
An ACT! database must be local to the SQL Server installation. You can test the connection by creating a new database (File > New Database). To open an existing database that has been moved to a new location: delete the PAD file associated with the database, then open it using the ADF. PAD file is only a pointer, does not contain contact data. To open using the ADF: click File > select Open Database > change "Files of type" to ADF > browse to database > select ADF and open.
