Making act premium faster! help

I am runing act v10 premium in a quadcore interl 2.40ghz with 4.00gb ram. Everything runs fast except ACT database which runs slow, I only have 400 contacts with history, notes, attactments, etc. What do I need to do to make act run faster? please help. thanks

Re: Making act premium faster! help

What exact build of ACT! (from Help | About)?

Single user or network?

If network, is the database also on this PC? If not, what are the specs of the machine where it is hosted?

Re: Making act premium faster! help

Processor speed is the least important factor in the performance of the ACT! program because it is an I/O bound program. How much RAM do you have, hard drive speed in RPM and swap file settings are all more important.

Re: Making act premium faster! help

What do you mean by your reference to the database being on an external hard drive?

Re: Making act premium faster! help

If you have the model of your hard drive you can go to the manufacturers web site and fine out the RPM of the drive,
