Mail Merge Error: TSafeRecipients: could not retrieve IMessage

Running: 

Windows XP SP3

Office 2003 SP3

Act 2010 Version 12.1.181.0 Hot Fix 1

This message occurs while do a mail merge to an e-mail on a lookup.

 

I have read through some Community posts and am having a hard time resolving the issue.  

 

I have tried to resolve by going to C:\windows\system32

 

and running fixmapi.exe

 

When I double click on it nothing seems to happen.

 

mapi32.dll file modified date is 8/4/2004 and doesn't seem to change when i run fixmapi.exe

 

Any guidence or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

You can try manually updating the MAPI32.dll file:

  1. Close all open programs on your machine.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the following location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033.
  3. Locate the MAPI32.DLL file in this directory, right-click on it, and select Copy.
    Note: On some machines the file to copy may be named MSMAPI32.DLL.
  4. Browse to the following directory: C:\Windows\system32.
  5. Locate the incorrect version of MAPI32.dll in here, right-click on it, and select Rename. Rename to MAPI32.dll.old.
  6. Right-click anywhere in the system32 directory and select Paste to paste the MAPI32.DLL file you copied earlier.
  7. Open Outlook, open ACT!, and test.

In some cases, the MAPI32 file in the system32 folder is not the correct version. You may also want to browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 and try copying trhe MAPI32.dll file in there to system32 folder (will need to first rename the one currently in there). Then run fixmapi.exe


In additon, run a Detect & Repair from the Outlook Help menu.
