MS Office 2002 and ACT Prem for WG 2008 (ST)

I'm being told by our ACT Consultant that we must be running MS Office 2003/2007 as part of our upgrade to ACT Premium for Workgroups 2008 (ST). Is this an absolute requirement? It will cost me $4,000 to upgrade and I had not budgeted for that. What functionality will it give me (or will I lose) by running Office XP (2002) instead of Office 2003 or 2007?

Thanks!

Thanks Mike. That's what I'm hearing - O 2002/XP should work fine. We don't really need more than that for what we use it for.

According to http://www.act.com/2008/system/ it's supported - Microsoft Office 2002/2003/2007

O2000 was dropped with 10., but O2002should still work... wel, as well as it does anyway.

Please see thread from 2-24-2008 with subject "Field list in Word 2002 not showing". This has some helpful info on how to more fully integrate WordXP with ACT2008.
