Lookup Contact field defaults to "Contact" after searching a different field

HAHA, v19.2 for Web still did not fix the default setting for the Lookup Contact field.  I believe this stopped working about the time of 2010's release.  Now you have to download a "free" addon from a third party developer.

Greetings - not a very detailed description of your issue? But what about performing a lookup on last name? and possible Narrowing your lookup further if you are already in a lookup?

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... ACT would retain the Contact Field on the left panel when searching for different items.  So if I have a custom field called "Job Name", and searched the Contains field for a specific item, the Contact Field would remain on "Job Name".  Since several years ago ACT will reset the Contact Field back to "Contact".  See attached.

 

Of course now there is a third party add-on you can download, which doesn't work that well.  I have called and emailed Sage and SP about this every time there is a new update.  On the other hand, I am sure glad they spent all their money and time on changing the GUI colors symbols.  Especially the symbols.  I can understand the function of the tools SOOOO much better now.

I guess I do not grasp your issue? I viewed your pdf image.. I perform multi pass lookups daily and assuming I am in the contact module, the contact field remains same in that upper left area above the navigation bar. Multi pass lookups requiring to "Narrow the search: further and again instead of Replacing Lookup.   I am using actv17,2 pro...    Smiley Happy   

I never use that area in the Nav bar though. From the Contact record, DETAIL view, I rite mouse click on desired field name, select Lookup and select search criteria, then do same for the next field in DETAIL view and select criteria and Narrow the Lookup, etc..to zero in and fine tune my results.

Oops, sorry, I forget this part of the forum is not specific to ACT for Web.  So yes, I am use the Web access part of ACT.  The right click function doesn't work.  So for a quick search, we use the lookup function on the left panel.
