List view truncates names and other info

Running ACT 18, Premium for Web on both WIn7 and Win10 machines. IE log in in both instances. When I create a look up, it opens in List view, and the fields are not displayed entirely: see the atached screen print

This is time consuming to have to re-size the columns every time.

Started only recently.

Re: List view truncates names and other info

Have you tested comparing the appearance of logging in with IE to the appearance of logging in with another browser to see if the same happens in a different browser? If it looks correct in another browser, I'd recommend taking a look at the following article to verify your Internet Explorer settings for use with Act! v18. Not having them set this way can cause the pages in the database to not display properly. http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38231

Re: List view truncates names and other info

OK That helped. It seems like this only recently occurred; could the IE settings have changed? Recently upgraded to v18 and thought our consultant had done all of that.

Thank youSmiley Happy

You're welcome Smiley Happy Unfortunately, it's hard to say exactly what would have caused it, as browsers can be finicky sometimes, but I'm glad that the article helped you get it sorted out!

Re: List view truncates names and other info

We're now on  Act! Premium (Web) Version: 19.2.141.0.. Dell laptop and Surface Pro 3 on Windows 10. IE 11; 11.674.15063.0, update versions 11.0.47

This issue has recurred. My consultant has made adjustments on the server several times, it would clear up for a while, then back to the problem.

It's back again. I adjusted IE to agree with everything in the KB article; logged in on Chrome and the same thing would occur.

Anything further I can do?

Re: List view truncates names and other info

Hi there,

This issue can occur if the Web Preferences are stuck/damaged.

The web preferences are user specific preferences that are stored on the server itself - so to rebuild them you will need access to the server that hosts your database.

The exact location of the preferences can vary depending on which user is logged in to the server at the time the web user access the database.

You'll find the location of the preferences in the KB below:

KB 19757 - Location and Contents of the Web Users Preferences

Again, this location can vary per the KB above - but as an example:

C:\Windows\System32\ACT\ACT for Web\Preferences\UserPreferences\<server_name>\<database_name>\<serialized_web_user_name>\

I'd recommend removing the whole <database_name> folder, this will recreate the preferences for all users (just rename it to oldpreferences or similar).

Let me know if this helps!
