Hi. I successfully set up sync over our network, but am having problems with syncing over the Internet. Two quick questions:
1. On the subscription machine, do we need to set up the Sync services from the Act install disc?
2. On the subscription machine, do we need to drop in a properly configured syncconfigfile.xlm?
FYI, we're using Act! 2009. Thanks in advance.

The synchronization service is installed only on the server
In the XML file the server name and the database must be all upper case.
In the internet router you must be configured HTTP access to the internal IP address of the server.
You must disable the Server antivirus and firewall or configure exclusions http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19420
I suggest the services of any Act! certified consultant ACC
Do not forget to periodically back up your database

The XML file only needs to be on the parent machine.
