Installing 2013 PFW over old installs, and licnesing

Did a search, but couldn't find this, if it exists, pls show me the link...

Currently running 5 users on ACT 2010, with 2 of those users remote. Am in the process of upgrading to ACT PFW 2013.

1. Do I NEED to uninstall 2010 or can I just install over it?

2. I have 5 user license now for 2013, but would like to have it installed on more machines (laptops that are central useage for salespeople here for when they travel). There will never be more than 5 people logged in at once.

Is ACT licensed by machine, or # of logins? e.g., do I need 5 licenses or 7, one for eachcomputer?

Thanks.

1. With Web version, you should uninstall the old one first (server only).
With the Windows one, you can install over the top

2. It's licensed by active user name in the database - each user could have it on 2 machines

Mike, thanks for such a quick reply. Still a bit confused. The server is a new machine, so it only has 2013 on it. On the users machines, which is still get prem for web, unistall or install over? Thanks.

On the user machines, you should only install Premium (not web).

So, uninstall and just install Prem ... after uninstalling, you might want to remove IIS - no need to leave that on machines that don't need it
