Installation of ACT 2009 Version 11 having problems with Windows XP

I have bought a new laptop with Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3 installed.  I am trying to install ACT 2009 Premium on it but I keep getting a fatal error 1603, the installation gets stuck when it reach ACT.UI.dll file and then it rolls back.

I have tried all possible options:

Used the Act Uninstaller to remove all files.

Uninstalled SQL Server

Uninstalled .Net framework

Have also tried http://community.act.com/sage/board/message?board.id=ACT&thread.id=2156 but no success

Have also tried this that I found on the net somewhere

1) Click Start > Run
2) Type msiexec /unreg and press enter and wait until it appears to have
finished.
3) Go back to Start > Run
4) Type msiexec /regserver and press enter.

Still does'nt work.

Please help!

Thanks

Dhruv

If you can't copy the CD... that's the issue. Either the CD or the drive is damaged. If the drive is ok, you'll need to get another CD from customer service

Re: Installation of ACT 2009 Version 11 having problems with Windows XP

Have you tried copying the CD to a folder on the hard drive and running the setup from there?

Couple of questions here:

1) Please open Add/Remove programs and look to see if you have an applicatoin called MSXML6 listed.

2) If yes, please attempt to uninstall it.  I expect it to fail.

3) If yes, please Internet search for the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility" and install it.

4) Launch the cleanup utility, in the list of programs, look for MSXML6 and allow it to be removed.

5) Reinstall your ACT! product.

Re: Installation of ACT 2009 Version 11 having problems with Windows XP

Hi Mike,

I am unable to copy the CD to the hard drive as it gives me a "Cycle Redundancy Error".

Under Add/Remove Programs, I have the following:

MSXML 4.0 SP2

MSXML 6.0 Parser - I tried to REMOVE this and I got the following message:

"Warning 26002. The following products depend on MSXML 6.0 Parser:

Intel (R) PRO Set/Wireless WiFi Software

If you uninstall MSXML 6.0 Parser, dependent products might not function as expected"

I am not sure what to do? Should I still remove it?

Thanks

Dhruv

Thanks a lot Mike.  I have managed to fix the problem by replacing the CD.
