Re: Install SQL separatly from Act!

Yes, this is possible (and I've done it).  There are three KB articles based on your versions:

How to Install the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2005 (Express Edition) ACT7 Instance - 24366

How to Manually Create the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 (Express Edition) ACT7 Instance - 25198

How to Manually Create the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 (Standard Edition) ACT7 Instance - 25227

Good luck...

You will not be able to create an ACT7 instance on a clustered SQL server.

Also, although you can run the SQL install seperately, this does not mean that Act! does not also need to be installed on the server machine.  Said another way, Act!  cannot be installed on a machine w/o having SQL installed...

Re: Install SQL separatly from Act!

The ACT! database, SQL server, and ACT! software all need to be installed on the same local server machine in order to properly connect.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
