I know that Sage Act 2011 Premium automatically saves outgoing emails to ACT History but you have to setup outlook rules to do the same for incoming emails. I was just curious to know as to what is the reasoning behind ACT not having this ability built in ? i.e; why doesn't ACT have the options for dealing with incoming email as it does for outgoing ? Is there a specific reason for this behavior ?

You can do that, if you use Outlook, by creating Rules as per this ACT! Knowledge Base article -
