Importing companies only

I have a list of companies that I need to import into Act. There are no contacts.

  • The database is empty - nothing has been uploaded yet
  • The list does not contain any contacts
  • I am on Act premium (Cloud)

From the Tools menu I click on Import.

  • I get a pop up.
  • I select the file
  • Import type: Custom
  • Import first record: No

Then I get to the "Mapping" section. The top reads "Contact Map" and the fields related to Companies are not available.

How can I get to import companies only?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Importing companies only

Hello,

Act! Premium for Cloud only as an option for contacts to import

To apply to a database:

In the Welcome Email you received after signing up, click Migrate existing data

  1. Click the option to Upload a Spreadsheet, then click Browse
  2. Browse to and select your spreadsheet, then click Open
  3. Note the database name, login, and password
  4. For the Special Instructions box note to upload list as new Companies
  5. Click Upload

Process is normally 24-36 hour turnaround

Thank you,
Carl

Re: Importing companies only

On the import wizard at no 3 section tick the Company option. It should now allow you to import directly to the company table.

Re: Importing companies only

Hi,

I don't see that option at all.

I attached a file with import steps and outlined them below.

First section on the Import Pop-up is the "Welcome to Import"

- Click "Next"

Second section is: "Specify  Source File" - the only available field is the file upload field with the "Browse" button

- Select the file and click "Next"

Third section has two areas: "Select an import type". Options are "typical" or "Custom". Second area is "Manage your duplicate checking preferences"

- Tick the "Custom" radio button and click "Next"

Fourth section is "Specify Import Options". Options are "Yes" or "No" for "Do you want to import the first record"

- Select the "No" radio button and click "Next"

Fifth section is the "Contact Map" - there is no place to select anything other than the "Contact Map"

- This is where I stop.

The next two sections are about the "Merge Options" (section six) and  the "Confirm Import" (section 7), which is the summary.

In the summary it shows the "Record Type: Contacts"

I don't get the option choosing the "Record Type" anywhere in the process.

Kindly help.

Hi Samirayes

Sorry, missed the fact that you were on the cloud version.
