Imported data from another database and deleted it, now it says its missing.

Someone deleted several contacts so I grabbed a copy of the database from the backups, exported the missing contacts as an act database because we needed the history and then imported them into the live database.  I deleted the the the copy of the backup and the migrated contact database and now I'm getting the following error.   How do I tell Act to stop looking for these databases?

You may need to delete these old databases from ACT! Diagnostics as SQL thinks they are still attached:

- Close ACT!

- From the Windows Start menu, choose Run and type in actdiag

- You may get some errors trying to open ACT! Diagnostics, but just keep clicking Continue until the utility opens up

- Click Databases/Database List

- If you see any databases in the list that are Suspect and that you have deleted, then highlight that database, right-click on it and select Delete Database

Re: Imported data from another database and deleted it, now it says its missing.

I do get an error starting it stating it can't find one of the databases I deleted, but I continue anyways. When I hit databases/database list, I get the following error:

ERROR:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

Re: Imported data from another database and deleted it, now it says its missing.

Can you click past this error and any other errors until the database list is displayed? If you have problem databases that SQL is still trying to connect to, then you can expect errors when trying to open the database list in ACT! Diagnostics.

Re: Imported data from another database and deleted it, now it says its missing.

I'm sorry, I forgot to finish.

After I click continue on that error, I go back to the main screen and nothing happens.  If I click database list again, I just keep getting the error.  I can click on server and that gives me server info, but if I click anything under Databases, I get the second error.

There also looks to be some kind of error on the bottom of ActDiag, it says "entArgs 3)[][] at actdiag.FormACTDiag.[](Object 3, EventArgs 3)"   The 3s have ".." over them and the "[]" are boxes for unrecognized characters.

Re: Imported data from another database and deleted it, now it says its missing.

In your original post you said you deleted the copy of the database you had restored from backup.  What was the method you used to delete that database?

Also, go ahead and and try starting and stopping the SQL service:

- From the Windows Start button, choose Run and type in services.msc

- When the local services list comes up, find SQL Server (ACT7)

- Right-click on the service and choose Restart

As I remember:

I pulled a copy off our backup and renamed it.

I loaded the copy in Act and pulled up the deleted contacts.

I exported them as an Act database and imported them into our live environment.

Then I selected them and hit the delete button.

Restarting seems to have been a bad idea. It says the service failed to respond to the start command in a timely fashion and now its status is listed as Stopping.

I've got the service running again, but the ActDiag still errors out.
