Re: Import existing database

It looks like you are trying to restore only from the PAD file.

Do you have a ZIP file backup?

You should be able to restore from that.  Since you have a new drive, you may need to do a RESTORE AS from the zip file and create a new name.

If you are trying to restore from existing database structure, please review the post from ch1p:

Hope this helps.

Re: Import existing database

Does that mean you have the ADF and ALF files?

If so, try the link in my prior response that came from ch1p.

I did that steps below and I have this message:

screenshot-community.act.com-2020.02.png

Copy the whole ACT directory where the database was kept.

Once copied delete the database .PAD file from the new location.

Open in ACT using the File - Browse for database - CHANGE FILE TYPE FROM .PAD to .ADF

Browse to copied database and open.

ACT will now create a new .PAD file and setup the database on the new PC / Server

ACT rather confusingly creates a backup zip file that is not a standard zip so if you use restore as it expects the non standard zip file that was created by making a backup. Just making a standard zip file will not allow ACT to restore correctly using restore as etc.

The best advice is to copy the whole ACT folder with all the files and then delete the pad file.

Then in ACT use the - File -  Open Share Database - Browse for Database - Change File Type to ADF from drop down and browse to the ADF file.

ACT should now open ACT and create a new PAD file.
