Ignore Other peoples Groups

I am starting to use groups and love it!

Here is my biggest problem. I work for a big company that has almost the entire staff using ACT!

When I open the groups tab there are litteraly 3 pages worth of groups that other people created without making them privet. The resault is It become harder for me to find the groups that I made.

As of right now I have been going to

lookup -> Groups -> other feilds

then selecting

record manager / contains / *my last name*

I have to do this every time I want to look up a group. Even if i simply clicked the wrong group. needless to say it is becoming a bigger hastle then just directly looking up the related contacts directly.

Is there any way to set Act! to automaticly ignore groups not managed by me?

Re: Ignore Other peoples Groups

There's actually acouple of methods. The less desirable one is for everyone to make their groups private. The preferred one would be to talk to the database administrator to see about having the groups setup to use limited access. With that method everyone would see their own groups and any groups that were common to all. Most of all with this method groups can be shared between users and the administrator.

Re: Ignore Other peoples Groups

Our system admin is going through our DB and making all of thoes changes.

However, I think groups is probably very low on his list.

Is there a way I can change a preferance on my side as a short term solution?

Unfortunately none that I can think of. I suppose you could make your groups all subgroups of a single group and give the main group a very unique name.

Re: Ignore Other peoples Groups

I guess that would work.

It seems like a flaw on Sage's part to allow the the ignoreancev of the user to mess up the productivity of the entire organization.

Hopfully they work around that.

a button to "ignore public groups" would be nice

Thanks!
