When synchonizing contacts from ACT to Outlook, the ID/Status of Customer (or prospect, etc) does not transfer over to Outlook. Is this by design or is there a fix for this? Seems like a big oversight.

I assume that you are using ACT 2011 and as there is no mapping capability I believe this is a limit of the inbuilt link and one fo the reasons I recommend most to use companionlink as it allows you to not only map the fields but also build a group of contacts to synch rather than all contacts.
