I want to copy the database structure, but not it's content?

I have a db with ~10k contacts in it. I would like to copy the structure of this database, but not it's content, what is the best method?

I've tried to backup and restore as, but when trying to delete 50+ contacts Act crashes (memory leak?) so it won't allow me to do 10000! Is there a better way?

Re: I want to copy the database structure, but not it's content?

File -> Save Copy As...

Give the new database a name.

Ensure "Create and Empty Copy "is selected.

And away you go!

One more question -- when the Save As is complete - does it create the complete directory structure for the new database?

thanks.

The Save As/Empty Copy process will create a copy of the original database but without the contact data or the supplemental files (layouts and templates).  After creating an Empty Copy you will need to copy the desired supplemental files from the original database.

Hello westerner,

In regards to your question, the items that will not come over in a saved copy are:

- Contacts and data

- Supplemental files (layouts, reports, queries, templates, documents). You can however, replace the supplemental files ([database name]-databases files) from the saved copy with the files from your original. You can  view this Knowledgebase article for assistance with copying these files over:
