How to create a database from a "current look-up" ?

Hello. How do I create a database from a "current look-up" ? I want to have a separate database of person contacts. Thanks.

First create an empty copy of your database and then export your lookup to the empty database.

This was a timely post that helped me also - thankyou.

As a follow-on question, if I create such a (down-sized) database copy from the local 'remote' database on my laptop, can this new database be used as a 'main' or 'stand-alone' database when copied to another laptop?

Yes it can. You would need to do a backup of the database and then a Restore As with a different name on the other machine.

Re: How to create a database from a "current look-up" ?

Ah,  thanks but maybe you missed my point (or maybe I'm missing yours).  I don't want the whole database on the second laptop.  I want to create a very small subset of my large database for another user (who must NOT have access to the whole database) and I don't have the option to hook him to a network and manage him via sync sets.  And for simplicity, i want to start from my large 'remote' database.  The new small database would then remain one-user.

Does this work?

Yes, I was referring to the small database in my other post. You would open that database and do the backup in that database.

OK, I understand now.  Sorry - I missed the point about how to actually get the small database across to the second machine.

Thanks for your help.
