How do I remove the auto-separation of First and Last Names?

I've imported a list of contact names (not people) and I need them as listed for sorting.  Act automatically separates them into what it thinks are first and last names and will not let you sort by the original contact name.  I've tried importing the contact name as the last name and it just gets over-ridden and continues to separate the name.  There are about 500 of these, so fixing the names one at a time is not really something I want to do.

Help?

Nevermind. I renamed the contact column to last name on import and it let me bring it in that way.

Renaming a basic field such as Contact will cause problems.

Its cheaper and better to use (and pay for) an experienced Act! consultant who would have shown you how this and many other things will enable you to maximise your experience with Act!.

Speculate to accumulate.

Putting both first and last in one field will cause other issues ... if the names are "First Last", you can sort by First, the last
