History: It's not getting recorded for changes in email fields.

I thought it might be a good idea to begin history tracking on changes in the email field.  If a telemarketer is able to

put in a fresh email for the newsletter then that telemarketer can be paid a commission.

Clear, simple, easy...

I went into the proper menu for setting up a field for history tracking to record changes in the email field for contacts.

Followed the directions as per in the Quickstudy guide.

No history is getting recorded.  I have been back into the process for setting the history tracking for email more than once

and it's all looking perfect but it still isn't working.

Has anyone tried this before?

Re: History: It's not getting recorded for changes in email fields.

I just tried it in ACT! 10.0.2.1 and it worked:

Field E-mail changed from "a@b.com" to a@b.com.au

Did you select Generate history for the Email field as par item 3 in the Editing a Field section of this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/3qx26f

Did you Save and then Refresh after making the change? Otherwise you won't see it straight away.

Yes, I did those things. Smiley Happy I'm well aware of those tricks. btw I started out programming Motorola 6502 CPU's in assembler and have racked up another 25 years with hands on work with all manner of databases. Item 3 deals with creating a new field though. I am just trying to flag an already existing field to start history tracking as per item #9. It's not happening though. Smiley Tongue

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

Can you try it on the email field in the demo database?

I also started on 6502 CPUs in assembler... on the Apple ][
