First time in so here goes.
I have Act 2009 Premium installed on a machine running Windows XP. I want to share the database with another colleague who is on a laptop. They have their own copy of ACT 2009 Premium running on Windows XP. We can share and access information over the network no problem.
The problem starts when I have tried to share the ACT database. I have watched the sharing video but that does not explain why it does not work.
I have turned on Sharing and it has created a .PAD file. I have copied this into the My Documents/ACT/Act for Windows/Database
When my colleague tries to open the .PAD file, he gets the message;
The database could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check network connections and verify that your database server is available. Disable Firewall software.
I have made the ACT folder full access to all users, I have disabled the firewall, but still cannot get the database to open on the laptop, and it's driving me up the wall.
If anyone can give me an easy step by step guide of how I can get this to work, I would greatly appreciate it.
