I want to import and Excel spreadsheet to Act! 11.0. I have saved it to a .csv file. When I get to the Contact Map screen, nothing appears in screen for the field lists for either the .csv file or the Act! database file. There are buttons with arrows above the Act! database file but when I click them, I get an error screen that says, "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
How do I get the fields to appear so that I can map them?

You couldn't import from an Excel file in ACT! 11 (ACT! 2009) or even in ACT! 13 (ACT! 2011).
But you can in ACT! 2013 (v15).

No I can't. that's the problem.
spent an hour on customer service,
his theory was I was importing contact with Companies but no contact name. We added a fake contact name to the excel file. still no download.
It says it downloads, it looks like it is downloading.
but after it's down the contacts are nowhere to be found in ACT!.

i found my problem,
well the guy at tech support did.
the box for Duplicate checkig was checked, in tools, preferences, admin, duplicate checking.
i have no idea why that was the problem. doesn't make sense, but now i can import excel files.
