Help ! 2010 Premium showing my converted templates as Windows Media Files

This is a strange problem.  I upgraded from act 2006 to 2010 Premium.  My templates are now showing up as Windows media files.

I sent one of my templates to any associate that has the same version and he was able to convert it to a 2010 template just fine on his computer.  I think it's something on my system but I don't know where to start.  Suggestions very much needed and appreciated.

This is not an ACT problem, but rather, an issue with how your computer chooses to open files of different extensions.  The way to resolve this depends on your operating system.

Here is an article from Microsoft on how to change this in Windows XP (here)

Thank you so much for the reply (the only reply so far).

I have Windows 7.    Can I trouble you for the link to resolving it in Windows 7 by chance and I should be able to take it from there.

Big help.  Thank you,

Two ways to change it:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Default Programs and click Associate a file type or protocol with a program .
  2. Right-click the file, click Open with > Choose default program .
