Using ACT!2010 I have noticed when a follow up is created in an Opportunity and the follow up activity is completed it is only putting the details in the contact history (if a contact is associated to the oppertunity) but it is NOT adding it to the oppertunity history and should be.
Anyone notice this too or is there something I need to do? (yes the "Add the details to history" box is checked too)

Unfortunately, activities can currently only be linked to contact, company and group records...not to opportunity records. This means that cleared activities under the Activities tab for an opportunity are only going to show under the history for the contact(s) associated with that opportunity and/or activity.
If you would like see the functionality to link activities directly to opportunity records, please post and discuss your request in the Share Your Ideas board in this Community.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
