Export an Act 2010 Premium 2010 and import to an Act Premium 2011

I have a production Act 2010 Premium 2010 v 12.0.409.0 Hotfix 4 system and i want to export this database. No problem.

I have a new Act Premium 2011 v 13.1.111.0 Hotfix 1 that i want to import the database from the system above. The Act Premium 2011 will import the following file types:

Act! Database(13.x)

dBase

Text separated by tabs

Text separated by commas

Act! build a list of Contacts

Act! build a list of companies

Goldmine.

So my question is, how can an import of the Act Premium 2010 12.x Act Database into the Act Premium 2011 13.x database be performed????

I prefer this method.

What pain and hoops would be involved in upgrading my production Act Premium 2010 to the Act Premium 2011???

Please advise and thanks for the assistance.

What you'll want to do is create a backup of the 2010 database and restore it (File > Restore > Database > Restore As) on the computer with 2011 installed.  Once restored > open the database to update it to the 2011 format > you can then import the data.

If you're wanting to upgrade the production system, you don't need to export/import ... you just upgrade the server and open the database and it will convert (good idea to backup in 2010 before the upgrade)

Or, if wanting to test the database in a system with 2011, the Restore As will convert the database and, unless you have created a new db in 2011 that you want to use, you just use the restored/updated database
