Excel 2007 OLEdB Read and Write Access to ACT Premium 2009

Hello ACT Community,

I love reading your insights as I am guided along my own personal journey of being "Connected" with ACT.  I currently use ACT! by Sage Premium 2009 (11.0) Version 11.0.0.367 with Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (12.0.45.18.1014).

TASK:  I need to take an Excel worksheet of business names, and phone numbers and merge the entries in with my previously filled in ACT database.  If the business is already in my database, then I do not have to add it.

I opened Excel 2007 and selected get data from an external source, and selected my contacts table.  I can see all 1500 entries.  My QUESTION is: How can I edit or add to this connected data in Excel and have the changes show up in ACT 2009 Premium database when I open my ACT client software?

Thank you for your help,

Adam

Re: Excel 2007 OLEdB Read and Write Access to ACT Premium 2009

So to be clear:

I have ACT 2012 Premium.

When I unzip the ACT! Backup and the SQL.BAK file, I can read it using ODBC tools that I have.

(So I know that I'm in the ballbark of what I might need to 'access' the ACT! database)

BUT, even given this level of expertise/tools, I cannot write information (eg, default values for new fields that I have created, or such) without purchasing an SDK or such from ACT!?

Thanks.

Yes you need the SDK or an add-on.
The SDK is free, but you need to be capable of programming in .Net
