Error when merging a template to a contact

I have a new problem this morning.... ( I am using ACT prem 10.01 - with Word 2007 using Vista OS)

I want to send a fax to a contact so ...

I have a contact on the screen I pull up a fax cover page from my templates and I get the following error :

"Attempted to read or write protected memory, This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt"

My PC is 30 Days Old - I have no other known problems - the last significant change I did was to change the UAC (User access control) so that ACT and Outlook would work together.....

All help is appreciated

That error usually means the .Net Framewok is damaged. As you can't uninstall/reinstall .Net on Vista, try this:

  1. Click on the Start menu, choose All Programs, then Accessories, then right-click on the Command Prompt item and select Run as administrator
  2. Click Continue to authorize opening a command prompt with administrative privileges
  3. Run this command in the cmd prompt: sfc /scannow
  4. The cmd prompt should list text stating "Beginning system scan. This process will take some time."
  5. Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes so be patient)
  6. When the scan completes, the SFC tool will indicate whether or not it found any integrity violations and offer you the chance to fix any that are found

If that doesn't work, try this:

Uninstall any version of ACT! from Windows Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs
Use the Uninstaller.exe from the ACT! KB 19338 (the exe, not the manual uninstall)
Uninstall any MS SQL items from the Control Panel if still there
Uninstall MSXML 6 Services from Control Panel if it's still there
Perform a Selective restart with MSCONFIG as per ACT! KB 14499
Manually install MS SQL as per ACT! KB 19386
Install ACT! 10.0 full install
Install ACT! 10.02 patch if the previous install was the previous build
Restore from Selective Startup Mode with MSCONFIG
Reboot

PS: I wouldn't be 64-bit as the SQL with ACT! won't install on 64-bit OS
