I get the following error message (see attached image) when I create a new activity if the text in the regarding field is too long.
"Error - Activity changes could not be saved. One or more of the Contacts or Associations may have been deleted, or this activity may have been deleted."
The activity didn't get saved and I lost the text in the regarding field. I think in previous versions of ACT!, either a message indicating that that text was too long was displayed or the text was truncated.
I was able to duplicate this on the demo database as well.
Version: ACT! by Sage Premium 2010 Version 12.0.409.0, Hotfix 3
I would like for ACT to display a message saying the length of the regarding field was too long and that I should modify it or use the details tab instead.

I get the same error message when I try to save a call. I am not exceeding the max of text in the regarding field. I am not entering anything in that field and I still get the message.

We are encountering the exact same issue.
This definitely hasn't got anything to do with the details being too long, as we have the same error appearing with Activity details that have less than 10 characters.
Has anyone gotten an update on this issue as it is really causing us grief?

Also, for what it's worth, it seems to either be a user-specific or a machine-specific thing (from what we can tell so far), as it is only happening to one of our users.
We have tried re-installing ACT! onto that person's machine - didn't fix it.
We have tried creating a new user for them and re-assigning their old user over - didn't fix it either.

Sorry, as it turns out, it is not just tied to the one user, it is actually happening to multiple users.
We have found that it only happens when a user tries to open and edit the details within an open activity which was scheduled by another user.
If they try to do the exact same thing with an activity that they scheduled themself, there is no error.
Hope that helps!
