Error by chosing Phone format

When we chose "Chili" as the country for the phone format we get the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". And when we try to "edit formats" we get the following error "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index". Is there anyone who knows how we can solve this problem?

Kind regards

The service is running. But we still get the problem. It's not with all the countries, just with a few. That's the strange thing about it.

What is your version of ACT?

I thought that this issue was solved in the ACT2008 version...

Re: Error by chosing Phone format

Hello,

This is more then likely an issue with the country list key in the registry if you get the error in multiple databases.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List

If its not database specific, you'll have to replace the country list key in the registry.

  1. You'll have to export the country list key from another machine that isn't experiencing this issue.
  2. To export the country list key, go to the key below, right click country list -> export:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List
  3. Transfer that exported file to the machine in question.
  4. Close ACT!
  5. Backup the registry using the following KB article:  How to Back Up the Registry on a Windows Operating System
  6. Delete the following key on the problem machine:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List
  7. After you've delete the country list key, you can simply double click the file that you transferred from the other machine to import it.
  8. Test ACT!

[ Edited ]

dlunceford,

When the country name in the registry is written differently than the one written in the country field, there is no error message. But the country code is set to [1].

For example, if you have a french OS, the country name in the registry is "Belgique". If you write "Belgium" in the country field, then you click in the phone field, the country code will set to "Belgium [1].

So your solution is for an other issue.

The error encounter by Jurgen is database-specific. I wrote a message about it in the newsgroups in the past.

Re: Error by chosing Phone format

Jurgen,

You can try this in a different database.  If you receive the same error, follow my steps.

Thank you.
