Error: Index was out of Range.

We are using ACT! Premium 2010, but have encountered this error with earlier versions as well. The workstation is a Windows XP sp3

When doing a lookup and replace we intermittently receive this error:

Error: "Index was out of Range Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.

Parameter name: index

The user was doing a lookup and replace on 115 accounts. The fields being replaced were custom date fields. As far as the user can remember it does not always happen on the same field.

What causes this error? Is there a way to correct it?

Re: Error: Index was out of Range.

This could be due to the data being placed into the target field is an invalid format for that field type. If replacing the value in a date-type field, make sure the data is in mm/dd/yyyy format, unless you have a specified a different format in the field's properties. You may also want to run maintenance on the database by going to Tools/Database Maintenance/Check and Repair.

Re: Error: Index was out of Range.

I can't say for sure how the date was entered. When looking at the contacts after the replace the dates were all in the mm/dd/yyyy format.

The database maintenance is set to run automatically overnight. Is there a difference between the scheduled maintenance and running it manually?

I had found another article about this error and the cause was an incorrectly formatted email address. We have corrected all email addresses and will see if this corrects the issue.

Thank you for your input.
