Email merge of a group only sends to first contact in group

I have 2010 Premium with Outlook 2003 on Windows XP.

I currently am trying to send an email template to a lookup of several contacts. When I go through the steps of tagging the contacts and then choosing to mearge and write to an email template, the email screen only populates with one email address. Does anyone know why?

It has never worked for me before.

When you create your lookup, are you going to Write > Mail Merge?  Then selecting send to "Current Lookup?"  If you are doing it this way, are you sure all the contacts have an Email address?
