Email from Act for Web

[ Edited ]

I have been using Act for Web successfully for a while and really have enjoyed it.

I just noticed that I could send a .vcf attachment (it's been under my nose for years now Smiley Happy, and thought - hey that's cool, I'll use it.  Well, theory is nice.

The error message that I'm receiving is despite trying two different email accounts (one is a standard POP3 and the other one is an IMAP).  There's the error message:  "Length of the data to decrypt is invalid".

Anyone run into this ?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Hello Robert,
Do other web users experience the same issue? Does it happen if you log into the web database from a different machine?

I'm unable to reproduce this message, can you provide some additional information about your environment:

- Which email system are you set up to use (ACT! email or Outlook)?  If Outlook, which version of Office?

- What version of ACT! are you using? In the Help > About ACT! option.

- What is your operating system?

- What internet browser are you using (include version)?

- When is the error presented?  As soon as you click on Contacts > Send Vcard, or when attempting to send the email?

- Does this happen when sending from any contact, or just one/some?

Not sure on other users - I'll have to check that.

It does do this from different machines - one XP Pro, the other Win 7, 64 Bit - both using Outlook 2007 and both are Act Premium 2010 Version 12.1.181.0, Hot Fix 1.

>>I'm unable to reproduce this message, can you provide some additional information about your environment:

Outlook 2007

>>- What version of ACT! are you using? In the Help > About ACT! option.<<

Version 12.1.181.0 Hot FIx 1

>>- What is your operating system?<<

I have tried this on Win 7 64 Bit machine as well as XP Pro.

>>- What internet browser are you using (include version)?<<

IE 8.0.7600.16385

>>- When is the error presented?  As soon as you click on Contacts > Send Vcard, or when attempting to send the email?<<

When attempting to send the email that has a .vcf attached

>>- Does this happen when sending from any contact, or just one/some?<<

I haven't tried many, but it did happen on unrelated machines.  One machine is THE web host (the Win 7, 64 bit machine) and it is also a remote off the main database.  So I tried this on an XP machine as well (also a remote) and same outcome - it came up with that error.

Re: Email from Act for Web

I just tried it as an email-only (without .vcf attachment) and same error:  "Length of the data to decrypt is invalid".

Re: Email from Act for Web

Update:  I am getting this error on the E-Mail Setup window as well - I tried a second email address and same error.

Noticing that your signature has 'Investments' and this is happening on different machines - do you happen to have any encryption software running?  If yes, can you disable it to test?
