I created a tab in contact view. Essentially, I want to have a "Product" tab that starts off empty, but inside the tab allow for "add" with different column such as "name of product", "investment amount", "servicing advisor", " account number", and etc. However, it looks like I can only put fields in it. Is there a way that I can edit to an extent that is similar to "opportunities" or "notes" tab? Thanks.

To add a custom table, unless you're a programmer, you'd use an addon like TopLine Designer:

It sound like you want a custom table to hold products under a tab. We have developed an add-on named Impact Tables List Plus v5 for just that reason.
Below is a screen shot of a custom table named 'equipment'. As you can see equipment records are displayed in a list under the tab. The data-entry form ( blue on top) is customizable, add any fields you need to capture. Our add-on comes with over 30 starter templates. One may be right for you or you can heavily customize any one of them.
