Dropdown not showing all items in list

ACT Install:

-Current version: ACT Premium For Web v17..2.217.0 Hot Fix 2

-OS - Windows Server 2012 R2

Issue:

On my server when I am in the database using the installed version I can see all items in a dropdown list.

The list contains about 490 or so items.

When the same drop down is selected on the web version on a client laptop we only see the first 412 items.

Any ideas what on what the problem maybe?

Thanks.

Re: Dropdown not showing all items in list

Answer:
You can increase the number of items presented by editing the Web.config file on the server, following these steps:

  1. Through Windows® Explorer, browse to your installation location
      Default locations:
    • 32-bit: C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Web\APFW
    • 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web\APFW
  2. Locate Web.config, right-click file and select Open With, select Notepad
  3. Locate line "Act.Web.MaxPicklistSize" value="500"
  4. Increase value
  5. Save changes to file
  6. Restart Default Web Site (or custom web site) or reset IIS to pick up change
  7. Access database to test

Re: Dropdown not showing all items in list

it may be that the way the orders are not the same as in windows, it may be all but are in a different order.

Additionally...

Do not forget to periodically back up your database - including attachments - in a folder created for this purpose. - Then copy this ZIP file to a USB stick or external drive for better security.

Keep in a safe place the Act! administrator password.

Good luck and best regards,

Re: Dropdown not showing all items in list

Juan Carlos - It is definitely missing items. They are all alphabetical and it displays all correctly up to the item that is 412th in the dropdown list.

Thanks.

Re: Dropdown not showing all items in list

I have seen this when an item is longer than the number of characters in field definition.
