Delete

We create a field with Generate History on. It's good that a history record was created when changes make to this record BUT at the same time the user also can delete the whole activities under HISTORY, so, what's the point of generating the history record?Are we missing something? Any other place to store this audit trail.Pls advise. TQ

I think the only way to do what you want is to disallow those users from deleting any records, you can do this by editing the users through manage users, and removing the Delete Records permission.  This makes it impossible for them to delete contacts, opportunities or activities as well.

 

If thats not desirable, setup field security on your field and only allow certain users to change it

In Edit Preferences (general tab), you can just turn off "Allow History Editing".

 

Unfortunately, users can turn it back on if they know to look... it's not easy to secure.

Input from this web page goes directly into a database that management has direct access to read, and which they also track and gather statistics on.
