Database conversion issue when converting from 2010 to 2011

I am attempting to upgrade my ACT from 2010 to 2011. Software installed fine and I can open demo database or create a new one BUT it will not convert my 2010 database. It errors out and I get a "schema" error message. I spent three hours on line with support who attempted many things but did not look at the error message?? The ActSchemaUpdateResults.txt filw shows that many files converted succesfully then I get this -

Setting syscolumn metadata for WF_CONTEXTID on TBL_ACTIVITY ...
Setting syscolumn metadata for WF_INSTANCEID on TBL_ACTIVITY ...
Setting syscolumn metadata for WORKFLOWDEFID on TBL_ATTACHMENT ...
Setting syscolumn metadata for TICKERSYMBOL on TBL_COMPANY ...

I have used ACTDiag to run all the database tools - check reindex, check schema etc and all are fine. I have run the update on two different machines both Windows XP and get same results - yes on security is Adminstrator and firewalls turned off.

I am updated to Sage ACT Premium 2011 Version 13.0.401.0 Hot fix 2

HELP ANY IDEAS as support do not help me

Re: Database conversion issue when converting from 2010 to 2011

JC,

This issue is caused by having Duplicate field called " Territory" in Company Fields.

If you still have access to database in ACT 2010, Go to Define Fields-- Choose Company option and look for field called Territory and rename to something else.

Convert database to 2011 after that and you should be able to correct this error.

If still fails, You will need to submit this database to ACT Database Services team so we can convert database in house at no cost to you.

Did you run the Activity Fix from ACTDiag? Looks to me like there is a corrupt Activity in the database.
You will need to do this on an ACT! 2010 install not 2011 as the Activity Fix was removed from ACTDiag in 2011.

Travis,

Thank you for your reply and I see what you are saying. Now I need to uninstall 2011 and reinstall 2010. As soon as I do that I will try what you say and reply

Thank you,

JC

Re: Database conversion issue when converting from 2010 to 2011

I have a client who is experiencing a similay problem when updating to 2011 SP1. Other than submitting database are there any other solution than thos presented of renaming field?

If the error message you receive contains the reference to either fields "Territory" or "Region", the fields will need to be renamed.  If the previous version of ACT! is still available, you can open the database in it and rename the fields.  Then attempt to update to 2011.

Re: Database conversion issue when converting from 2010 to 2011

The database was in 2011 and all I did was to apply SP1 and Hotfix 4

Still no resolve to this particular problem??
