Database Replication for disaster recovery

Hi - Please forgive me if there is an obvious answer to this, but my searching has not lead to any concrete leads...

I am the IT guy for a client that has Act! Premium Version 20.0.159.0, Update 7. They are looking for a way to replicate the database in realtime to a backup server onsite in case of failure of the main server.

I am wondering if there is a way to do it with shared folder replication, MS SQL replication or some type of scripting?

We also looked at automated backups at night, but from what I can find there is no way to automate the restore of that backup to the DR server.

I'd appreciate any tips anyone has on how to accomplish this!

thanks,

Scott

Re: Database Replication for disaster recovery

I had considered both of those as I posted. The issue is what can automatically RESTORE the database? From what I have read the scheduler only does backups...

Also, ideally it would be replicated in real time, just as one can use replication to keep several SQL databases in sync.

Re: Database Replication for disaster recovery

Have you considered syncing. You can create a sync database with all the information on another server / PC and have this sync every hour.

Simple way to have an immediate up to date copy of the database.
