Forgive me if this has been covered here before - I couldn't find much on this subject.
It seems that the products/services grid is applicable to companies that sell widgets at set prices. We wish to customize this grid to fit our business (we are insurance agents). We sell insurance coverages at a commission and the price varies for every opportunity. It seems that there are only a few opportunity fields accessible for customization. Am I missing something?

Well, I'm hoping that "working around" the problem isn't the solution here. The fields in the opportunity are 1) Quantity, 2) Cost, 3) Price, 4) Adj. Price, 5)Discount, 6) Subtotal. These fields don't fit our business. We need 1) Premium, 2) Commission%, 3)Total Revenue (calculated).
My question is, do we have a choice in the matter?

We have an add-on called Opportunity List Plus for ACT! that can rename these columns. You can not add new columns but you can remove and/or rename any or all existing columns. In fact we can even set the description field to 256 characters that supports multi-line word wrapping.
