Customized Layouts used by Separate Databases

I have customized layouts for our database.  One is titled CompanyLayout JT.  I also created an empty copy of the database, and imported some contacts.  This database is used for testing.  However, I recently realized that when I modified CompanyLayout JT in the main database, the layout was also modified in test database -- and vice versa.

So how do I fix this?  Both databases have layouts with the same name, however, I want to keep my modifications separate.  Both databases, and all associated files are in separate directories.

How should I proceed?

What version of the ACT! program are you using, it sounds like ACT! 6?

Re: Customized Layouts used by Separate Databases

Sounds like something else going on.  ACT by default keeps layouts for different databases seperate.  You can browse the folser structure for the layouts folder to be sure, but when you create a layout in one database, it is not normally visable in another database.

You could go in to the second database and remove the layout. by browsing hte file structure and going to the layouts folcer.
