Custom activity and synching

I had to recreate several remote databases when we changed the result choices on a custom activity and the choice did not sync.  According to tech support, this is a known issue.  The customer wants to modify it again, and now they are faced with having to recut all the remotes, upload them, download them, restore, and hope that they don't lose any data.  Is there any chance of getting this resolved?  They are on 12.1 Premium. Thanks, Brenda

Hello Brenda,

The issue with custom activity types not syncing is still under investigation. However, in testing this issue I have discovered a possible workaround, which may or may not work for you. It seems that, if after creating the custom activity type in the Publisher database, that you create an activity using that custom activity, that it will sync over. The remote users should then be able to use that new activity type going forward. Try this out and see if it works for you. The steps to reproduce are:

 

- Create custom activity type in Publisher database

- Create or lookup a contact that all remote users have access to (it appears that if the contact is not in the remote user's sync set, that they will have to close and reopen ACT! in order to see the new custom activities)

- Schedule a bogus activity with this contact using the new custom activity type(s)

- When users sync, they should be able to see this activity and also be able to use the custom activity type(s)

In addition, it appears that the same process needs to be followed when making a change to an existing custom activity. You  must schedule an activity with the updated version of the activity in order for the change to sync over.
