BTW (from your first post), does it only happen when scheduling for another user or also with a normal contact?

It happens when i make an appointment over "plan with"-> choose contacts, an then i choose any other (not ACT user) and one (or more) ACT! users.

This ACT! User i choose, doesn´t get the appointment in his calendar or tasklist until i change the activity type to a one, i didn´t create in ACT! 10 , but in prior versions.

Does it appear in YOUR calendar?

Does it appear in another user's calendar if you change the Shedule For to them (either with users in the With or just contacts)?

yes, it appears in my calendar. it doesn´t appear in others users calendars.

Sorry, I had to set up a system with ACT! 10.03.

 

These are the steps I took:

Opened the ACT10Demo database

Logged in as Chris Huffman

Manage Users - Make Allison Mikola Active

Created a new Custom Activity Type: Test Activity

Scheduled 3 activities:

  1. Test Activity with Allison Mikola. Schedule For: Chris Huffman
  2. Test Activity with Allison Mikola. Schedule For:Allison Mikola
  3. Call with Allison Mikola. Schedule For: Chris Huffman
Looked at the calendars (Daily and Monthly) and all three could be seen under Allison.

Logged out and logged back in as Allison
  1. Could be seen with options to accept, Tentative, Decline
  2. Could be seen as a normal activity
  3. Same as 1.


So, I have not been able to replicate the issue.

 

If I have mis-understood the way to replicate this, please let me know.

NOTE:  This is a far fetched test.  I think I remember seeing something similar recently with some version of ACT!  Unfortunately, I don't remember what version, nor if what you are describing is the same issue.  The good news is that it shouldn't hurt anything.

 

You might try this:

On one of the machines which is having a problem.

Make sure that ACT! is not running 

Find the Preferences folder.

Rename the Preferences folder (i.e name it Preferences.Pre Test)

Run ACT!

See if you still have the problem (you may or may not...)

If you do still have the problem, try adding a custom activity type, then quiting and restarting ACT! to see if that fixes it.

 

Wether or not this works, you'll likely want to clean up after doing these test and:

Delete the new custom activity type if you created one.

Rename or delete the new Preferences folder.

Rename the old Preferences folder back.

 

If it works, then there is a bad section in the Preferences file that is not getting refreshed by ACT! for some unknown reason.  The fix would be to copy that section(s?) from one Preference file to the other.  (To find the section(s) to be copied from the new preferences file to the old one, I would look in the old one for the name of the new item you added, or if you didn't need to add one, one of your custom ones that you had been having a problem with...)

 

If it doesn't work, you shouldn't be any worse off than before.

How are the steps you're taking differ from the ones I posted?

I have the same issues. We're running Act 10 (specifically 10.0.1.199) and custom acitivities won't show in anyones calendar except the one the activity is scheduled for.

 

Mike - I replicated your example with creating a test activity and adding it to an active contact etc, and it did not work properly.

 

The call and the custom activity scheduled FOR allison worked like a charm, but the custom activity where she was scheduled with did not show.

 

All custom activities are displayed under the Activity tab for each contact, regardless if they're scheduled for them or with them.

 

Is there any way for me to use a custom activity type, or do I have to create a separate activity for EACH contact I want this visible for in the calendar view?
